Newton eventually went back to Trinity College in 1667 after the plague had ended. The first prism split the white light into different colors, but the second prism recombined the colors into white light once again! He also was able to shine lights of just one color onto a second prism and found that those colors did not change (red still was red blue still was blue), showing again that prisms did not change the color of white light, it just separated the different colors within it. He then allowed the light to shine through two prisms. ![]() His experiment involved making a hole in the window shutters for light to shine through. During his time in Woolsthorpe Manor, he discovered that white light is made up of every color of light. Newton wasn’t satisfied with just thinking about gravity or mathematics he was also very interested in light. Fun fact: The apple tree still grows in Woolsthorpe Manor!ĭuring this time Newton also developed calculus, which he called fluxions. ![]() It states that all objects (whether they are on earth or in outer space) are attracted to each other by gravity and lays out a formula to calculate the gravitational force between objects. This law mathematically shows how gravity is holding the universe together. This eventually led to Newton’s law of universal gravitation (published in 1687). This in turn, made him think that the force that pulls an apple to the ground might be the same force that governs the moon’s attraction to Earth and, therefore, keeps the moon in its orbit. While an apple probably did not fall on his head, Newton does recall seeing an apple fall from an apple tree in Woolsthorpe Manor which led him to think about why an apple falls straight to the ground (as opposed to up or sideways). You have probably heard of the story of the apple that fell on Newton’s head and caused him to think about gravity. Newton’s period of his life while he was away from Trinity College in his family’s estate is referred to as his “Year of Wonders” because of the amazing breakthroughs and insights he made during that time, which laid the groundwork for modern physics. Newton then withdrew to his childhood home, Woolsthorpe Manor, 60 miles away from Cambridge, and so began what is known as his “Year of Wonders.” In 1665, Newton was at Cambridge University’s Trinity College, having just finished his bachelor’s degree, when the school closed down its doors in response to the plague. The Great Plague devastated the city of London, with around 15% of London’s population losing their lives. ![]() ![]() It was caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, which was also the source of the Black Death in the 14th century. The Great Plague of 1665-1666 was an epidemic that started in a London parish called St Giles-in-the-Fields and quickly spread. What some may not know is that he made major breakthroughs in these areas while practicing social distancing during the Great Plague that spread in England in 1665. He is famous for his discoveries in the fields of motion, gravity, optics, and mathematics. Sir Isaac Newton (January 4, 1643-March 31, 1727) was an English physicist and mathematician. However, Isaac Newton proves that time spent in social isolation can lead to great insights. Without our normal routine, it might feel like we are not accomplishing much. As we are practicing social distancing during this time, it is easy to feel restless.

![]() ![]() “Kill A Man” is punctuated with angsty female background vocals, Jelly admitting that “I was bulletproof, but baby loving you could kill a man.” Other songs that touch on relationships threatened by addiction include “Kill a Man” and “Hold On Me,” where he can’t escape the holds of addiction that prevent him from love ( “I know you’re all I need, but I just can’t break free” ). “And I feel like it’s the artist’s responsibility to speak for those who sometimes can’t always speak for themselves.” ![]() ‘She’ is talking about the elephant in the room and addressing head on the heroin and fentanyl epidemic that is sweeping the nation the pharmaceutical pill problem that is sweeping the nation, and has been for a long time,” Jelly revealed in a statement. “‘She’ is about the struggle of addiction. One of the album’s most poignant moments comes in the form of “She,” a song penned to shine a light on addiction. While “Behind Bars” has him trading verses with Gilbert and Jennings, lamenting that “ most my friends are behind bars,” “Unlive” finds him accompanied by rapper Yelawolf as they admit “you can’t unlive where you’re from.” Jelly’s background in hip hop weaves its way through songs like “Behind Bars” and “Unlive,” two of the more unique tracks on the LP. “You don’t think I know I’m the jester before your throne.” “Nail me to the cross outside of your ivory tower // Where you sit so high on that horse you rode // As I sit here alone, So hit me with the stones you cast, your shadow looks back while you stare through glass,” He sings. The Lambert co-penned “The Lost” is a rock laden ode to being a misfit, the country star proclaiming “I’m better with the lost than the found,” musing “You’d be surprised at the places I find Jesus.” Alternatively, both “Church” and “Nail Me” find the Tennessee native leaning more into his country roots, as “Church” finds him finding God in a truck, while “Nail” shines a light on hypocrisy among those who proclaim their Christianity, but turn their back on him. Likewise, “The Lost,” “Church,” “Dancing with the Devil,” and “Nail Me” explore similar themes. Over roaring guitars, he proclaims, “I don’t know if I’m halfway to heaven or halfway to hell // My angels and demons at war with myself // One foot in the fire and I still can’t tell // Am I halfway to heaven, halfway to heaven or hell?” Opening with “Halfway to Hell,” Jelly Roll immediately sets the stage for what’s to come in the form of a blazing uptempo which finds him a walking contradiction, struggling with where he stands. These themes weave their way through almost all of the songs on Whitsitt Chapel, with Jelly Roll offering both lyrical and vocal brilliance through his delivery. While much of the album is autobiographical, it’s also very much a concept album, dealing with the battles of a man torn between heaven and hell, addiction and sobriety, falling and faith. Real music for real people with real problems.” “I believe the worst feeling a person can have is feeling hopeless or worthless. I wanted to create a project that felt hopeful,” He says in a statement. “This album is about growth and gratitude happening in my life. Yet, the singer-songwriter isn’t hiding who he is. Throughout Whitsitt Chapel, named after the church Jelly grew up attending, there’s often a battle between faith and felony, Jelly musically struggling with both his past and his present, his angels and his demons. Other contributors to the album include Miranda Lambert, Hardy, Brantley Gilbert, and Ashley McBryde, while he also trades verses with Gilbert, Struggle Jennings, Yelawolf, and Lainey Wilson. Today, June 2, the musical enigma released his debut country LP, featuring thirteen new co-written tracks. This is evident through Whitsitt Chapel, which finds the former convict dabbling in everything from pure country to anthemic rock to beat-laden hip-hop and rap. Yet, without question, the BMG/Stoney Creek Records is a vocalist who would undoubtedly find a home in any genre. With a talent that effortlessly transitions between poignant ballads and arena-ready rock anthems, Jelly Roll is the kind of artist who would have the coaches on The Voice shocked upon turning their chairs. With a background in hip-hop and rap, a transition to country may not have seemed the most logical step, until you hear his voice. The singer-songwriter spent 25 unprecedented, consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart, breaking the record for the most weeks spent at #1, and his debut country album exemplifies why. Instead, the Nashville native is an immediate wildfire, burning up the char ts and leaving nothing in his wake. There are some artists who spark the country scene as an ember, burning slowly and steadily until they finally reach stardom. Jelly Roll releases his debut country album, Whitsitt Chapel, out now, June 2nd on all streaming platforms. ![]() Getting the software running on the majority of Linux distros should be easy. Topical estrogen is known to decrease skin thinning and collagen loss and soy might be able to do the same, especially during and after menopause when natural estrogen levels run low. These isoflavones are also the ones that make soy a phytoestrogen, meaning they have a (weak) estrogenic effect. Genistein is also proven to inhibit UV induced redness in human skin. The most famous and bioactive flavonoids in soybeans are the isoflavones called genistein and diadzein that have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This is useful for most pigmentation situations but, if you have melasma, soy is not for you as melasma is estrogen-mediated and soy is a well-known phytoestrogen. We heartsters – which AVEENO® products has earned a spot in your collection? So began the journey of finding a daily moisturizer with SPF that I would wear. Like a front door that hadn’t been weatherproofed and had been out in the sun too long. My skin had started to look weathered, for lack of a better word. I’ll never forgot the moment I realized my luck had run out. But I skated by without it for many years. Chalk it up to good genes, or maybe youth. But for years, I just didn’t like it the scent, the haze it left on my skin, the way it felt. I know it helps to prevent wrinkles, skin discoloration and worse.
